There’s only one thing better than winning an award in the media business. When your clients win awards.
Started off a Monday just like any other day and in between a meeting conversation, the email feed was from Nathan Goodwin, publisher of the Elizabethton Star describing his 2012 Tennessee Press Association Award for best website in the state of Tennessee.
Recognition from your peers is always a boost to your confidence. Since we began the Elizabethton Star website last August, our team of developers at Times Digital Group have enjoyed working with a great staff at this local newspaper. They have great reporters, wonderful photographers and a management staff that is still very close to their community in Carter County, TN.
A 10,000 subscriber newspaper, The Elizabethton Star also won two other awards which included two second-place rankings for “Best Special Section” and “Best Sports Photograph.” Earlier in the year, the website won a Silver Addy Award from the American Advertising Federation Northeast Tennessee.
The Tennessee Press Association is a state-wide coalition of newspapers and they recognize the best in the Volunteer each year. This year’s awards ceremony was held in Nashville and Nathan and webmaster Brian Freeman were on hand to accept the awards.
It brings me great satisfaction to know these guys were recognized out of all the newspapers in the state and it’s a terrific award for a wonderful partnership. Working together, we’ve been able to work with their editorial team to triple their website traffic in the first four months out of the year. We take little credit for this too. We built a platform, they did the rest.
Congratulations Elizabethton Star – we look forward to seeing where you want to go next.
