Daniel Pink has a wonderful book called ‘A Whole New Mind‘ which describes the myths and facts that expand on the notion that you may have heard about the “left brain” and “right brain.” His book is applicable to the future of business and uses technology as a foundation to describe perhaps a new perspective of how instead of one or the other, we recognize the strengths of both sides of the brain.
Recently, I discovered a wonderful 18 minutes presentation by Dr. Jill Bolte Taylor. Dr. Taylor is a neuroscientist and was a recent speaker at the esteemed TED conventions held in January in Monterey, California. As a brain scientist you might suspect a “brainy” presentation muddled in abstraction and scientific research, however this is a delightful video that may give you goose bumps and help us all think about ways in which we can change and influence the world.
Taylor experienced a stroke on the left side of her brain back in the late nineties and he observation of this event and the experience she witnessed is inspiring. She is a wonderful storyteller too and there’s plenty to learn from this short segment.
