My dad called to wish me Happy Thanksgiving and he talked about how he had to use a wheelbarrow to bring the Kingsport Times-News from the paper box today. Thanksgiving Day is one of the biggest days of the year for newspapers as advertisers stoke the fireplace as the Christmas Season begins tomorrow.
On the front page of the paper today was a new series developed our colleagues at the newspaper called “Kingsport On The Move.” It’s a in-depth look at Kingsport’s booming economy in the retail, downtown, health and education aspects of our community. It’s also our first video project developed by the new guys on the block at The GoTriCities Network.
Matthew, Jared and Mark have been working on this project for several weeks. They’ve tag-teamed behind the print reporters and capture some great footage from some of Kingsport’s new era of developers, government and citizen activists who are working to improve the quality of life here in Kingsport. I’m glad they get to tell their story too because they deserve recognition for their effort and passion. It shows from every corner in Kingsport and we’re glad to be a part of that success.
Interviews and footage include;
Miles Burdine: Kingsport Chamber of Commerce
Dennis Phillips: Mayor of Kingsport, TN
Dr. William Locke: President Northeast State
Jeanette Blazier: Former Mayour
Jerry Petzoldt: TCI Group Economic Developer
John and Angela Vachon: Downtown Developers with Urban Synergy
Jeff Lane: 12 Bones Owner
Kudos guys! Good job. Can’t wait to see what’s next.
