Tonight was night the trees let go of the leaves. They have been hanging on for the past several days, but we’ve finally had a cold November rain and driving home, it’s certain the holidays are near. Time to visit with friends and family and I got started a little early visiting with Abbi and Eric in Boones Creek.
It’s been several months since Abbi moved out of the house and she’s doing great starting her own experience. I was even impressed that she studied art history while I visited her home with Eric and two pups Zevon and Baxter.
For some reason, we got started talking about the new comet (Comet 17P/Holmes) that is visible in the night sky. A few weeks ago, an unexpected comet appeared in the Perseus constellation and has just now become visible to the naked eye.
I guess that was enough for a tangent to the edge of the universe and I shared with Eric one of my favorite You Tube relics titled the “Power of Ten.” This documentary from 1977 was developed by Charles and Ray Eames and was distributed by IBM. The Library of Congress has deemed this interesting video with cheesy seventies synth music as a “culturally significant” film and was selected for preservation in the National Film Registry in 1988.
Take a moment and take a little trip to the edge of the universe…with the Power of Ten. Let me know what you think when you get back. I’ll be waiting.
