Live updates from Macworld here…

I admit that I’m an Apple fan since ’88. Bought my first Apple II-e at Computer World in Johnson City and have been a supporter of this brand for many years now and I got jealous last week when Tim Rhea, Food City’s graphic designer told me he was spending the week at the Moscone Center in San Franciso. I’m still envious and can’t wait to hear his stories because looking at today’s press, Apple is disrupting the playing field with a new phone and appleTV.

It’s funny too because Apple had little to say about their personal computers today, other than the fact they will officially change their name from Apple Computers to Apple, Inc. Not sure if that means there computers will become less-focused because I was hoping for some new computer announcement. Instead, Apple has a new phone and a new media center and I can’t wait to get my hands on one.

Blogs across America played around with different designs. Some even spotted Audi commercials with what looked like the new device, but they got it all wrong. Hand it to Apple for keeping secrets because this new phone will be the new bling-bling for the next several months.

Jobs referred to the iphone as three things in one – a wide-screen ipod, a cell phone and an Internet communications device. All I know – damn cool. The new images show here show no buttons. That’s a terrific innovation and the fact I can hook it up to my computer, sync with my other iPods…I can’t wait to get one.

If that wasn’t enough, Apple is introduced appleTV. This new product will use your network to stream movies, itune media across your computers and big screens and available for $299.

It was a long wait, but definately worth it. Apple does a great job with the rock show – introducing their products in front of rabid fans and attentive media and it still impresses me with its secrecy and disruption they can cause in the market place. Should be interesting to watch.

In the meantime, my Treo 600 is looking too retro and my credit card is begging to make its way through the Apple store!
