My brother is someone I look up to. He’s raised a wonderful family, traveled all over the world, interviewed most every living President and someday he’s gonna tell me all the stories he’s experienced as a successful television reporter.
Keith works for WFLA in Tampa Florida, a Media General property and the darling of the industry back in the early part of the century as they were celebrated by merging their news operation into a cluster of newspaper, television, cable and Internet reporters.
He’s worked for many stations over the years and excelled in his career beyond any our expectations. A former anchor for Kingsport’s WKPT-TV, Kingsport first UHF station and my first media gig, Keith left the small station back in the mid-eighties and sailed on to Columbus, Ohio, Baltimore, MD, Birmingham, AL and now the sunny shores of the Gulf Coast where he wrestles with hurricanes and investigative reporting.
This past weekend, Keith won another Emmy Award along with day anchor Bob Hite for their coverage of the War and Gitmo Bay. I lost count of the number of Emmys he must have on his mantle now and quite proud of his effort.
The Google Alert I received this evening led me to the WFLA blog and it looks like some folks are expressing their opinions and I hope that rolls off Keith’s back. It’s always a surprise to me how people turn into Devils when they get behind the keyboard. Nevertheless, you keep up the good work Bro – you always make the family proud!
