We’re putting the final touches on our 4th Annual Fun Fest Homegrown Showcase sponsored by GoTriCities and participating sponsors and earlier today, we officially announced the lineup and we’re so pumped about this years performing artists. Each year, they get better and better and since our biggest memory last year was the sunset, we decided to change the name around a bit and are featuring these four bands on stage in front of The Taste of Tri-Cities on the Verizon Stage on Wednesday, July 19th, 2006.
Now there is a lot of family music this year at Fun Fest. Plenty of Country and lots of bluegrass too, but this is the rock and roll event that will surely impress the crowds that night of which we are unofficially referring to as the Rock Night!
Don’t miss these artists either. They are truly the most talented songwriters and performers through the Northeast Tennessee corridor and we can’t wait.
I’ve been working with Ben Conkin to secure sponsors which include Dashboard Audio, Dr. Enuf, Hardees, Jay Johnson Toyota and Northeast State. Jacob Cain has designed an excellent poster this year and we can’t wait to promote these extraordinary performers and hope you join us.

This year, we’re turning the heat with the an event we’re calling “The Sun Set Rock Series” and after several months of reviews on the Buzz, listening to Mp3s and live performances around the TRI, we believe we have a great lineup of well-deserving bands in the region and hope everyone turns out to support this showcase.
Fun Fest and surrounding festivals have lots of Bluegrass and Americana and we’re glad there are plenty of places for artists to expose that genre of music and this year, we felt that a concert at sunset during Fun Fest would be a perfect time to celebrate the area’s best and brightest.

If you haven’t heard seen Pilot on stage, you’re missing one of the area’s best original modern rock bands who deliver both a punch and prowess to their fans. An evolution of Blindsight with front-man Thomas Roark, these guys have improved upon an original union of players are truly an exciting act to follow. We’re sure they’ll set a new altitude for rock audiences the night they play.

Mia Richards is the rock goddess in our opinion and she has a voice which is national in scope and their power-trio with husband Dave on guitars have an epic stage show along with powerful song writing. You won’t find a harder working band either. Check out their website and you’ll see a true success story in the making. We’ve wanted to have this act for years at Fun Fest and this our schedules match as they’ll be returning from a long tenure on the road, so let’s welcome them home!

Last by by far, not the least, The Only from Johnson City have the best collection of original songs that we’ve heard all year long and their stage show is a cutting edge union of modern rock melody and hypnotic lyrics and soundscapes that will continue to turn heads as they move forward. These guys have appeared on a number of stages around the region and their music is cerebral, high-soaring rock and roll we know new fans will find irresistible.
