The GoTriCities Mp3 Player gets thousands of hits each month and along with Dr. Enuf, these two websites are a loud-and-clear signal of some of the best talent in the mountains of Eastern Tennessee and Southwest Virginia. The free Mp3 player is easy to use and has a great collection of artists.
Here are some new artists featured this week on GoTriCities and each deserves a listen;
GRETCHEN – ZION
– If you’ve never heard Mia and David Richards project from Bristol, TN , Gretchen…you are missing out on another of the region’s best talent. This trio has the an enduring, epic sound and vibe like no other in the region.
Mia has a voice of a goddess and although you might hear remnants of popular female metal bands, Gretchen is in a league all their own. Their music is razor-edge melodic rock and David Richards (Mia’s hubby) continues to transcend metal guitar normalcy and renders a sci-fi elevation to the band’s music and tone. Mia is sounding great too on this new track and her progression over the years on this instrument is another reason why I’m so impressed with this regional rock diva.
This past week, we received the link to the new single ‘Zion’ and we invite you to listen to this one of a kind original rock act from Bristol featuring their new drummer, Brandon Hensley. This song has an energy and supersonic motion and is one of the best new original songs I’ve heard to come out of the Tri-Cities.

A couple of other new acts are in the Top 10 this weekend.
RED LETTER DAY -A Momentary Lapse of Diction
– I’ve never seen these guys on stage yet, but their song-writing sensibility is something has character. An alt-pop sensibility that makes its own mark and worth a second listen.
THE WAYWARD – Missed the Sign
– This could be the genesis of a raw rock/punk emo force as the Wayward releases the rough track Missed the Sign. This song has plenty of rough edges and that’s why I like it! Underneath is a unrecognizable energy to The Wayward that could take this band into a lot of new stages this year.
K1- ROYALE – The Great Escape
– K1 Royal punches into the local music scene with a high-energy speedball called The Great Escape. This is one of those songs you have to play loud and don’t be surprised if the neighbors call the police and the kitties and the critters run about your living room bouncing themselves off the furniture. K1 is a rocket-fueled amphetamine and if they can produce this live – you might need to sign a release form before the first note. Great punk!
