The first time I watched ‘It’s A Wonderful Life,’ I felt like I had something in common with old George Bailey. He always wanted to travel the world, but he never left Bedford Falls and the agony of his compromised dreams set up the basis for one of the most enduring holiday films ever.
George’s brother was the one that got to travel the world and in many ways, my brother Keith is like old Harry. I woke up this morning to a deluge of work and I recently subscribed to the new ‘Google Alert Emails.’ You create a watch list for words and I entered my brother and sure enough, this morning, I got a feed with links to a story about my brother and his recent trip to Landstuhl, Germany, where he was covering war stories.
Keith is an anchor for WFLA in Tampa, Florida and I couldn’t be more proud of his accomplishments. Looking through the images of his recent trip and all of the other media at his TV station, he’s living a wonderful life in Florida and I can’t wait to see what’s next for my little brother.
He’s a consumate professional too. I have no idea how many Emmy awards he has won for newscasting, I’ve lost count, and it seems like only yesterday that we used to play anchormen in high school. That’s a long time ago though and although we don’t talk to each other much, it still makes me proud to tell his stories as he ‘shoots for the moon.’
Here’s a link to Keith’s recent trip to Germany and
and an extraordinary Flash presentation of a special feature called ‘War Stories’ on the website here..
