Well after several weeks of dilberation and a mind full of rationalization, a new organ is coming into my music gear and I can’t wait to turn up the knobs and spin the Leslie!
For several years, the sound of a decent rock and roll Hammond organ with a bonafide Leslie tone has alluded me. Several keyboards are presented on the market that ‘sound like a Hammond,’ but few ever deliver the right combination of sheer rock hysteria. Earlier today, I wrapped a deal with KD at JJs House of Music in Bristol, TN to purchase a new Hammond K-3 organ and portable Leslie.
This is the same sounds (smaller rig) that Jimmy B. Smith made famous, Keith Emerson, Kansas, Rick Wakemen, All serious Black Gospel accounts, Steve Winwood and KD Forsha made popular.
No more back-breakers and the old Leslie 147 is probably gonna go up on Ebay. I can’t wait to play this new axe and will debut you at The Vinyard next week with Reagan Boggs. Reagan’s Americana tone deserves a beefy blues and organ sound and along with a volume pedal and a few more over the shoulder lessons from KD, I should be ready to rock the house.
Now I’ve got the best rig of my life and hope to have many more experiences on the road with these babies…
