Tim Cooper – 1964-2005

TimCooperThe Tri-Cities music community lost another talented soul this weekend as Tim Cooper, lead vocalist and frontman for the band Sober Otis died of a heart attack on Sunday morning. These are the local tragedys that leave a scar on our times and our music community. Tim was an engaging entertainer and a great singer. His band had one of the longest running legacys in town and crossed several boundaries from metal to rock, country to pop.

I didn’t know Tim all that well. We met back in 2004 as he and his band performed on stage as the headliner for the 2004 GoTriCities Ultimate Rock Showcase at the Kingsport Civic Auditorium. It was there that Kimberely Miller captured several great photos of buddy in concert. Click here to see those images.

The Buzz music forum is alive with tributes to Tim’s friendship and his craft and continue to participate in one of the most active threads of the year.

This is another blow to the scene too. So far this year, we’ve lost Ted Francisco and Terry Baker. Rest in peace gentlemen and thanks for the great music you each brought forth with your gifts.
