Novalis Adventures in Second Life…

SecretLifeDance

It’s going to be interesting to see where Novalis ends up in Second Life. I spent a handful of hours exploring this world and have run into some pretty cool people and places.

For the most part, as a newbie, you walk around and meet other avatars who obviously have either spent some time designing great new fashions for computer avatars and explore the creations of a universe of residents who are buildings and business opportunities.

The first things I wanted to do was to change my attire a bit. I walked into a dance club on Saturday and most of the people were dancing at a Pajama Party. The tunes were pretty cool and so I went shopping a found a pretty cool shirt. I went back and learned how to dance. Honestly, it was pretty cool watching everyone hang out in their pajamas. I met someone from Scotland and Boston today and learned a few other things too.

In some ro0ms, they give away money. People will give you money too (called Linden Dollars). My mistake was gambling the money away on Sunday. I spent $75 Linden Dollars on a new shirt for Novalis so he would look better on the dance floor and more than $100 wasted on machines and games that did not make very much sense to me and probably existed to take your money, especially from newbies looking for change.

I think it would be really cool to start my own little place here and build out a universe, so that’s what I’m going to continue to do. It’s easy to seek advice on other avatars in the universe and everyone that I’ve met so far continues to recommend exploration and a part of that is checking out all the cool creations.

Modeling Software is only a click away and I haven’t figured out how to buy or rent space (some of the land is very expensive). One of my new friends suggested a looked into a few places like the Forest and Midnight City and truely, there are some spectacular scenes. I especially like flying back and forth on the map to different locations. Later on Sunday, I danced away at the club (pictured) and will be intrigued to read more into the interface in the coming days.
