I’ve been working with Greg Smith on guitars in the Reagan Boggs Band. That circle has led me into new corners of the music scene here in the Tri-Cities. Tonight I’m listening to a cd of Blue Rapture. Greg plays with this band while he works with Reagan.
Blue Rapture is well know in the Tri-Cities – a slanky blues-based band that has been playing a groovy jams throughout the region.
You might say the band is in transition though as they lost a gorgeous, sultry blond that used to stand out front of the band. Vanessa is still talked about and I’d love to meet her. I saw her perform several times and she’ll be missed. I hope to see her perform on stage sometime soon as she has switched to the theatre stage with the Jonesborough Theatre I think, but for know, I’ve got a chance to hear the new sound of the band (Vanessa-less) on a recording that sounds like something that came from Studio One.
The first song that impressed me was the groovy little number called ‘All The Time In The World’. The song features a great lazy blues and wa-wa work from one of the most soulful white boys in town and the band has a surprising rough bar band sound that sounds like a good time. The single has a good hook and is one that I can imagine people chanting from bars throughout the region.
We’ll feature it as Number One track on GoTriCities for the week of June 6th, 2005.
